100 National Parks To Waive Entrance Fees This Weekend

Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

More than 100 national parks all over USA are waiving entrance fees this weekend, August 14-15. The idea is to encourage people seeking affordable vacations to visit national parks and national refuges. Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite, Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone and Arches National Park are just a few of the places you can visit this weekend for free.

In the month of July, Yellowstone National Park set a record of almost 1 million visitors, making July 2010 the most popular month ever since the park first opened back in 1872.

Hiking and camping became more popular with the Americans lately as many people are looking to keep their budgets at a modest level due to the economic conditions. National parks seem to offer a relatively good bargain for many. In the end, what's there not to like? Breathtaking views and tons of fun activities are a perfect combination for both body and soul.

September 25 (Public Lands Day) and November 11 (Veterans Day) will also be free of charge for the above mentioned national parks.

- My List Of Places I Want To See
I don't have much to write about today since I just did a bit of shopping with Jeannie and only came home with two big, yummy-smelling jar candles. I probably wouldn't even post an entry, except for being inspired by Margie's blog yesterday,...
