3 Places Not to Miss in Prague

Prague is a city of diversity which has made remarkable progression in leaving behind any signs of its turbulent history. With so much on offer, here are some ways to take in some of its old and new:

View over Prague from Lobkowicz Palace

Lobkowicz Palace

As part of the Prague castle complex, this is the oldest and largest privately-owned art collection in the Czech Republic. Here you can trace the history of the country and the Czech people through the possessions of the Lobkowicz family and view some priceless works of art like the original music manuscripts from Mozart and Beethoven! It also houses an impressive Concert Hall which is used for classical concerts open to visitors which run daily at lunchtime. Another gem is the museum’s café which provides some of the best views of Prague from its terrace!

Zoo Praha

Ranked number 7 in the world, Prague zoo makes for not only an impressive, but a most educational day out. Opened in 1931 to educate the public and increase awareness of the study of zoology, it has a superb reputation as one of Europe’s best zoos. Unlike many others, Prague zoo creates an intimate atmosphere, allowing close contact with the animal’s enclosures and a pleasant walking track rich with greenery. From play areas, petting zoos and train trials for youngsters, to chair-lifts for the older ones, it caters to visitors of all ages.

Music at Reduta Jazz Club

Reduta Jazz Club

Spend your evening listening to live music in Prague’s oldest jazz club. Reduta Jazz Club, which opened during the communist era in 1958, provides an intimate atmosphere perfect for enjoying a few beers to the sound of big-band and blues music. You don’t even have to be a music lover to appreciate the rich sound of their Petrof concert grand piano, which really gets you relaxed after a long day of sightseeing.

In terms of accommodation you can get a great feel for Prague by living like a local and staying in an apartment. Staying in the Malá Strana area, one of the oldest parts of the city, is a popular choice. GowithOh have some great options all over but this neighborhood, situated on the left bank of the Vltava, is still very much a residential area and is therefore calmer than the more touristy parts of the city, giving it a unique atmosphere with its traditional bars and pubs.
