Oberstdorf in Germany is one of the most magical little towns in all the world. Nestled in the German Alps and located near the Austrian border, Oberstdorf harkens back to a preindustrial age of fine craftsmanship and true kinship between humanity and nature. Among the many reasons to visit this village are the following five.
The Skiing
Oberstdorf, Germany offers some of the best skiing in Europe. Your skiing options are extensive here, as several mountains are easily accessible by bus or by foot. And just the eye-popping scenery that you can take in from the chair lifts is enough to make the experience unforgettable. If you’re interested in intense downhill skiing, Nebelhorn should be at or near the top of your itinerary. The ice skating rinks in Oberstdorf are world-class. This is the town where the German national figure skating team comes to train and practice.
