A Multi-Generational Vacation for the Whole Family
Thinking of the perfect place for a Christmas gathering? Why not Aruba?
Ten years ago, 3 generations of our family living in 3 separate parts of the country, began spending Christmas and New Year's together on either cruises or in Aruba on a land vacation. We started our holiday vacations when my grandmother was a young 90 years old and our dd was 8 years old and my nieces and nephew were 10, 12 and 15.
For us, up this year is the Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort.
Only ground rules for our family holiday vacations are that the entire family dine together at night. Breakfast, lunch and daytime snacks as well as excursions, everyone is on their own to enjoy what they wish. The tour planner, yours truly, has always planned excursions with everyone's needs in mind. I guess I have done a good job since no one has ever said no to one of my proposed activities.
Whether staying at an all inclusive resort, such as the Tamarijn Aruba All Inclusive Beach Resort or cruising on Celebrity Cruises we needed activities which appealed to all of our age groups. Snorkeling cruises were popular with the teens, so I always looked for a boat which would be comfortable for my grandmother to enjoy the boat ride.
My grandmother passed away a year ago, as well as my mom. This year when looking for a snorkeling excursion in Aruba I needed a boat which departed from a dock. My dad has very bad arthritis and has difficulty with steps. Tranquilo departing from Oranjestad was the perfect solution. The bonus was that now only did it offer snorkeling for us younger ones, but it also provided my dad with a day outside of the resort doing something he does not have the opportunity to do while he is at home.
Other activities in Aruba which we have done with our family are the Butterfly Farm, Donkey Sanctuary, Ostrich Farm, Jolly Pirates, ATV Tour and helicopter tour.
