Caribbean Island Of Aruba & Nikon, Inc. Announce #1happysnap Partnership

Aruba Bound
ORANJESTAD, Aruba, Nov. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Avid picture takers and travelers are just #1happysnap away from the vacation of a lifetime – thanks to a new partnership between the One happy island of Aruba and Nikon, Inc.

The brands co-launched a social media contest today (Nov. 3), encouraging fans to share their happiest pictures on Instagram and Twitter for the chance to win a 3 night / 4 day trip for two to the Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort. Winners will also receive photography equipment for their trip, including the Nikon 1 AW1 – the world's first shock-proof and water-proof interchangeable lens camera.
"A partnership between our brands was destined, as both Aruba and Nikon attract a loyal consumer base of families, couples and adventurers," said Michael Beaujon, Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) digital marketing director. "Together, we've developed an initiative that will appeal to our valued audiences – people who love to do great things and capture great things being done."
Furthermore, the three-week #1happysnap contest is only one component of a larger-picture partnership between the brands. Fans will also be exposed to a new photography collection snapped with the Nikon 1 AW1 during a recent photo shoot in Aruba.

"The photography collection – with shots ranging from horseback riding through the rugged and wild Arikok National Park, to JetLev rocket soaring above the Caribbean sea and stand-up paddle-boarding along the mangroves of Mangel Halto Beach – captures the dynamic capabilities of the Nikon 1 AW1 and the variety of epic adventures awaiting people who visit Aruba," said Photographer Kenny Theysen of Timeless-Pixx.

"The Nikon1 AW1 consistently delivers high quality images. With its tough, waterproof, shockproof, freeze-proof construction and fast continuous shooting frame rate, it's a great camera for any Aruba adventure," said Sharon Henley, Sr. Manager of Marketing, Nikon Inc.

While this new photography collection is certain to inspire exceptional #1happysnap entries, participants are not required to submit pictures shot in Aruba or with a Nikon camera. The winner will enjoy ample time to capture exciting new memories on-island, and share their favorite excursions via Aruba and Nikon's marketing channels.

The #1happysnap contest runs until Friday, Nov. 21, and the winner will be announced Friday, Dec. 12. Visit www.aruba.com/1happysnap to view all rules and participate.

About Aruba
As one of the most revisited destinations in the Caribbean, Aruba -- One happy island -- is an island of contradictions, where pristine turquoise waters collide against the desert-like terrain of the north shore; where peace and relaxation coexist with wild and rugged adventures; where Dutch influence meets American ease; and where a diverse history parallels a bright future. Nestled in the Southern Caribbean on the fringes of the hurricane belt, the island is just a two-and-a-half hour flight from Miami and a four-hour flight from New York City and also boasts year-round cooling trade winds and an average 82-degree temperature. Aruba offers beach lovers, adrenaline junkies, relaxation seekers and everyone in between a slice of paradise, including breathtaking beaches, a booming culinary scene, world famous festivals and events, exciting land and water activities, art galleries and museums, sumptuous spas, championships golf and exclusive shopping. With all-inclusive options, boutique properties in charming Eagle Beach, high-rise branded resorts in Palm Beach or cosmopolitan city hotels in Oranjestad, the island of contradictions provides the perfect getaway for first-time guests and loyal visitors. www.aruba.com.
