Chester is an elegant and graceful city. Once the largest Roman fortress in Britain, its character lies today in the 2-mile long Roman red-brick wall surrounding the city center, the medieval cathedral, the Tudor Rows, a series of two-level galleries and shopping arcades, the Elizabethan half-timbered houses and the Georgian terraces.
