Floralientime Blooms in Brussels for the Very First Time

Floralientime is the name of a new flower event in Brussels, meant to alternate with the famed "Flower Carpet".

Since the Flower Carpet is organized every two years, in years with even number, Floralientime will be organized in the years with odd number, during the same dates - from the 15th to the 18th of August (the 14th is invitation only!).

Floralientime in Grand Place

Floralientime debuted with a Garden of Eden of some sorts in the Grand Place, featuring carefully pruned laurel topiary, begonia carpets and brightly colored lambs.

Inside the City Hall, the reception rooms and hallways were decorated by floral artists and famous designers with 100,000 flowers. The theme of the 2013 edition of Floralientime was 'Colors of Life'.

We were lucky to have made it to Brussels just in time for the festivities and stroll through the impressive City Hall all rigged out.

The Brussels City Hall is a masterpiece of Gothic civil architecture of the 15th century. Decorated with paintings, sculptures and tapestries, the building is a just as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside and a must see any time of the year.

Brussels City Hall

I found the floral arrangements at Floralientime interesting and creative. And they definitely brought a breath of fresh air to the historic building. A perfect combination, I might say, and a fun event to attend.

Many thanks to visitbrussels.be for extending an invitation to us to attend Floralientime and to Interrail for making it possible to get there.
