IHG Announces Renovation Plans for Upscale and Resort Properties in Key Caribbean Markets

IHG Announces Growth and Investment in the Caribbean

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) announced renovation plans for upscale and resort properties in key Caribbean markets, alongside recent additions to the region’s existing hotels. Owner and franchisee community continues to demonstrate confidence in IHG’s portfolio of strong brands, growing the Holiday Inn® Brand Family, including Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express® and Holiday Inn Resort®, as well as Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts estate.

IHG continues to deliver on its long-term business strategy to drive guest satisfaction even higher and capture additional market share through investment in its Holiday Inn Resort Aruba property to renovate the 597-room resort destination, a landmark property on the Island. Renovations and upgrades to the facility further IHG’s efforts to expand presence in top resort markets around the world. The Holiday Inn Resort brand caters primarily to leisure guests seeking practical indulgence and relaxation.

Demonstrating loyalty to IHG’s brands, the owners of the InterContinental® San Juan hotel have committed to a multi-phase refurbishment of the 398-room beachfront, luxury resort that commenced in fall 2012. During the first phase, updates will include new guestroom bedding and décor, as well as the complete remodeling of each meeting room, providing even more comfortable and spacious accommodations.

“We are excited about the expansion of IHG’s presence in the Caribbean through our midscale Holiday Inn family of hotel brands, which are a growth engine for us globally,” said Alvaro Diago, chief operating officer, Latin America and Caribbean, IHG. “That sector’s growth, coupled with our investment and that of owners of the InterContinental Hotels and Crowne Plaza brands, makes IHG well-positioned to meet growing consumer demand in the region.”

Additionally, four new hotels were signed into the active hotel development pipeline within the past 12 months, including:
Currently, IHG has 80 hotels open in its Latin America and Caribbean region, with 19 additional hotels in the development pipeline representing more than 3,100 new rooms.
