Transylvania To Kamchatka: Hitch-Hiking With Norbert Demeter
|
Norbert Demeter hitch-hiking |
On the morning of June 6th 2011, Norbert Demeter, a young Romanian guy left his hometown embarking on an epic adventure. With nothing but a backpack full of dreams he plans to hitch-hike all the way from Reghin, Transylvania, Romania to the Kamchatka Peninsula, Eastern Siberia, through some of the most rugged territories in the world. The rules Norbert set for his journey are tough: no public transportation, no paid accommodation, no map, no dictionary. He’s made it about half of the journey so far and right now he is in the town of Khovd, Mongolia from where he was kind enough and gave us this interview.
Norbert studied Tourism & Geography in Romania and Business Management in Sydney, Australia so it’s pretty safe to say his bold passion for travel has deep roots. He basically wants to hitch-hike Asia from one end to another and he calls this a journey for the body and soul; but not only his soul as he might have thought in the beginning, but the souls of all the people who follow him on his journey from behind the screens.
