10 Cherry Blossom Photos from Spain

Japan is ridiculously famous for its sakura (cherry blossoms) and to be honest I can't wait to visit it again in spring (hopefully next year). But truth is, Japan is not the only place where one can admire beautiful trees in bloom. Unfortunately, many other places that could make great spots for seeing (and photographing) cherry blossoms don't get all the media exposure they deserve. While it is true it is hard to beat the image of white cherry blossoms against the vivid red color of the Japanese temples and shrines, the flowers by themselves can be just as pretty anywhere in the world.

A few days ago my husband and I went on a day trip with some friends just outside Valencia (Spain) to see cherry trees in bloom. It was wonderful. Quiet. Rewarding. And nearly free! No matter where in the world you are, almost certainly you will find trees in bloom not far away from you. In the end it's up to us to celebrate their beauty.

Where in the world is your favorite place for contemplating trees in bloom?

The nights of May in Seville are wonderfully warm and pleasant and we slept like angels. And that was fortunate, as on the second day of our trip to Seville, my husband and I had lots of sightseeing to do. We started with the much celebrated Cathedral...

- The Botanical Garden From Valencia. Kitties And Flowers
The Botanical Garden from Valencia was founded in the 16th century, though it wasn't until 1802 when it moved to its current location. Back then, this area was outside the city walls, though not far from one of the two still standing city gates. Knowing...

- Spring At The Botanical Garden From Dublin
We've only been to Dublin once - in spring. But I can't imagine a better timing, as the whole city was in bloom and I'm a sucker for pretty flowers. I have to admit that the parks of Dublin totally took me by surprise. I new Ireland...

- Walking Around The Fabulous Blenheim Palace & Gardens
Blenheim Palace is one of the few princely residences that made it the UNESCO World Heritage list. Even so, probably the most outstanding detail about it is that it is the birthplace of Winston Churchill, Britain’s Prime Minister during the Second...
