Disney Avatar Park To Open At Animal Kingdom In Florida

Avatar movie scene
Fans of the blockbuster movie Avatar would be happy to know that they will soon be able to visit James Cameron's fictional world, walk through its rainforests and experience the oceans at Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida. Humankind might not get to explore fascinating new worlds very soon, but we surely can create out of this world theme parks.

The construction of the Avatar-themed amusement park is planned to begin in 2013 and will cost an estimated $400 million. We all knew 'cheap' was not in neither Cameron nor Disney Parks' vocabulary. The Disney Avatar Land is supposed to open to the public in 2016, after both Avatar sequels will be released in theaters and will feature locations, characters and stories from all three movies.

Pandora will be brought to life using animatronics, 3-D, and holographic technology. Avatar Park will include rides, shops and restaurants, but Cameron wishes to go beyond current boundaries of technical innovation and experiential storytelling, and that sounds all too familiar by now.

However, while the fans were overjoyed, voices were raised all over the internet questioning if an extensive project based on the PG-13 movie - which includes profanity and violence - was appropriate for a family-friendly park. I'm sure they will figure a way out.
