Of course the primary reason for its throng of visitors each year is in no small part down to the appeal of Walt Disney World® Resort and Universal Orlando Resort®. Kids and adults alike are fascinated by these wonderful destinations and the number of families holidaying to Florida for Disney holidays 2012 is continually increasing.
Aside from the thrills and spills of riding roller coasters and immersing yourself in fantastical man-made worlds for holidays 2012, there are many must-see natural and cultural attractions that distinguish Florida from any other place in the world:
State and National Parks
Perhaps the most famous park in the State is the Everglades National Park; here you can take an exhilarating airboat tour or even a serene pole boat tour through its swamps and wetlands – there are also camping and hiking opportunities and a chance to get up close to alligators and other unique Floridian wildlife.
World-famous Music Events
The Miami Winter Music Conference is considered by many to be one of the most pivotal annual music gatherings around the world. Set on the ever-stunning Miami Beach, music-lovers spend sun-soaked days and neon-lit nights listening to up-and-coming artists as well as many world-renowned DJs in various parties, seminars and workshops.
Historical Sites
A not-so-common fact about Florida is that it is home to the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine. Discovered by Don Juan Ponce de Leon, he claimed the land for Spain and named it La Florida, meaning "Land of Flowers". Visit the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument for a great insight into the State’s rich and varied history.
