Easter in Spain

Hundreds of processions take place in Spain during the Holy Week. They are usually accompanied by mournful music and look quite serious. Believe me, it's no egg hunt!

However, the most curious sight are the pointy hats. They might easily remind you of the Ku Klu Klan, but apparently there's no connection whatsoever. The anonymous Spanish Easter processions seem to have somehow inspired the clothes of the movement though.

While the silky hoods might be somewhat scary, many people also dress in beautiful period costumes that are a delight to look at. Most processions take place in the evening, at candlelight, but there's plenty going on during the day as well.

All the below photos were taken in Valencia, Spain, where the Sailor's Holy Week is quite an big thing.
