Date June 14th, 2012-- “The Queen’s” restaurant featuring authentic island cuisine, has moved from Oranjestad to Palm Beach Plaza and the always popular restaurant welcomed friends and loyal patrons for a festive opening on Friday night, June 1. An elegant décor with a breezy terrace overlooking Palm Beach welcomed guests along with owner Varella Innocencia, along with pitchers of mojitos on the house for the opening night. Friends and relatives toasted this family operation with glasses of Org-e and Hynotiq liqueur.
The Queen’s may have moved to hipper new digs, but the food and prices are strictly native, which is what first won them their popularity. Mama Luisa is still in the kitchen cooking up her famous stobas, (stews) Keshi Yena, (classic local dish) and other island delicacies, while prices are still more than reasonable. Seafood main courses range from $14 for Catch of the Day Aruban Style to $18 for shrimp and $20 for a mixed seafood platter with shrimp, fish, squid, scallops and mussels. Meat dishes such as BBQ Chicken and Ribs or Grilled Tenderloin range from $12 to $16, each including a choice of 2 side dishes; all yummy and bargain-priced to boot!
The charming new restaurant is located on the second level of Palm Beach Plaza, tucked into a cozy corner at the front of the mall.
