How Valencia Celebrates The International Year of Forests
As UN has declared 2011 the International Year of Forests to raise awareness and strengthen the sustainable forest management for the benefit of current and future generations, many people and organizations mobilized resources pleading for a greener world.
The Botanical Garden from Valencia has been organizing all kind of entertaining and educational activities this year too. One of the best ideas they've got so far was painting the walls surrounding the garden. Have a look at this creative artworks in the name of biodiversity. One can hardly call them graffiti; on the orher hand, there are lots of talented graffiti artists in town these days, as I've shown you in the post Graffiti art in Valencia. I really love their boldness, don't you? I'd just wish more walls around the city center be so colorful and meaningful like these ones.
And while we are still on the subject, the following is a 7-minute short film on forests by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the creator of the highly successful documentary 'Home'. It contains stunning aerial footage from 'Home' and the 'Earth from Above' television series. 'Of Forests and Men' was the official film for the launch of the International Year of Forests 2011.
