If you like road trips, but you are like me and you don't own or have the money to buy a high end car model for your travels and daily use, you are missing an integrated Bluetooth speakerphone in your car. In spite of the fact that talking on the phone while holding your mobile and driving is not safe, nor legal in most countries, a Bluetooth speakerphone simply doesn't come as standard in most of the car models, especially the older ones. I found an excellent option to sort out this problem: the Jaba Freeway. It's the flagship speakerphone from Jabra.
When I saw the Jabra Freeway for the first time I realized that I like the placement of the buttons, as they are fairly big and easy to push while driving. This is possible due to the generous size of the device, 3.75 inches by 4.75 inches, that's 9,50 cm by 10 cm. There are six buttons:
- call
- mute
- volume up
- volume down
- voice commands
- FM
I specifically like the placement of the phone button right in the middles, as I feel it's handier for making phone calls. But receiving calls is even easier, due to the dual microphones of the device; all I have to do is say "ANSWER" or "IGNORE", the hands-free commands on the Freeway being flawless and very comfortable and bringing the extra of safety to your driving.
One great thing about Jabra Freeway is its battery life, as I was surprised to discover that the lithium-ion battery lasts for more than one week, and sometimes even stretching towards the end of the second week. In the box you will find a handy USB charger for your car. I think the trick to its long battery life is the fact that every time I leave the car the motion-sensor shuts the device off and turns it back on as soon as it detects me getting back in. Of course the battery life also depends on how long I listen to music from my mobile or on the integrated FM radio.
The Freeway connects easy and very quick by Bluetooth to my mobile, and the sound quality during phone conversations is excellent, due to the three speakers of the device, filling easily the small space of any car. If I use my smartphone GPS app, I just connect it to the Freeway and profit from the clear turn-by-turn direction coming from its speakers, improving so much the experience of using a GPS app on my mobile.
If you don't own a high end car model with integrated speakerphone and you want to bring your car into the 21st century, I will hearty recommend the Jabra Freeway, as a great Bluetooth speakerphone that can be easily installed in any car.
