Photo Of The Day: Quinta da Regaleira, Sintra

Quinta da Regaleira, Sintra, Portugal

I took this picture of Quinta da Regaleira in December. I have no idea if these plants were supposed to be in bloom or not, but they so nicely enhanced my photo!

Quinta da Regaleira is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and consists of a beautiful palace and chapel. What impressed me most, however, were the out-of-this-world terraced gardens, featuring lakes, wells, fountains, grottoes, bridges, benches, and a vast array of exquisite constructions. Quinta da Regaleira is a luxurious place, without a doubt, and we had no previous idea about its existence. Luckily, my husband and I stumbled upon in on our way to the world famous Pena Castle.
