Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa Getting a $30 Million Face-Lift

Date March 3rd, 2011

The AAA Four Diamond Radisson Aruba Resort, Casino & Spa, situated on 15 acres of the island’s spectacular Palm Beach, has embarked on a $30 million refreshment project. All 355 guest rooms and suites are being completely refurbished in addition to the property’s expansive open-air lobby, casino and meeting facilities.
Capitalizing on its distinctive architecture and open-air design originally masterminded by the renowned Morris Lapidus in the late 1950s, furniture, fixtures and facing for the resort’s accommodations will recapture the retro period from its inception.

Radisson Aruba Resort’s trademark Colonial West Indian four-poster mahogany beds are being refreshed and will serve as inviting centerpieces for each room and suite. Tropical-inspired art will adorn freshly painted walls and corridors and terraces will be equipped with state-of-the-art, insulating sliding glass doors and designer furnishings. Guests will also be treated to in-room flat-screen televisions equipped with surround sound.

The property’s more than 15,000 square feet of meeting/event space divided among five function rooms will also be revived with new wall coverings and carpeting as well as woodwork and millwork finishing. Additional updates include upgraded audio and visual capabilities.

Due to the distinctive design of the resort and to ensure the comfort of its guests, one building at a time is being closed for the enhancements. As a result, in the upcoming months, the property will feel more like a private retreat due to fewer vacationers staying in the reduced inventory of rooms.

The refreshment of the first building, Bonaire Tower, has been completed and the Curacao Tower will be concluded mid-March. The Aruba Tower will be the final building refreshed and closed from the beginning of April through September 2011. Additionally, from April through July, the casino will be undergoing some light cosmetic work during the day and will be open at night for play.
