Relax on the Island of Jersey
Jersey is a great place to go and spend a few days taking it easy and relaxing; whether you do that by playing golf, going walking along beautiful coastal paths or simply by taking time out with a book while staying in one of the many beautiful hotels on the island.
The island is not a big place, and you’ll find that it’s easy to get to by plane or ferry. If you’re looking for understated luxury, then the Hotel de France is a great choice of accommodation. On the outside, the nineteenth century façade is imposing and grand, but inside you’ll find that the hotel is modern and contemporary, having undergone a complete renovation in 2007.
The Hotel de France in Jersey boasts the first Ayurvedic spa hotel in the UK. This is really a fantastic place to unwind and let all the stresses and strains of your usual routine melt away. There’s an infinity pool, a jet pool and hot and cold plunge pools. You’ll also find a solarium, sauna and steam room.
The Hotel is in a beautiful location five minutes away from the town of St Helier and only 20 minutes from Les Mielles Golf and Country club.
And if you do get tired of too much luxury and self-indulgence there are plenty of interesting things to do and see on the island of Jersey. You can find out how the islanders coped with the German occupation during World War II at the German Underground Hospitals, otherwise known as the Jersey War Tunnels.
Find out some more history of Jersey by visiting the Mont Orgueil Castle, above the port of Gorey. It’s been standing there for 600 years and makes for a fascinating place to visit, especially with enticing elements like the medieval ‘wheel of urine’ and the witchcraft exhibit in the cellar.
Jersey is also well-known for its wonderful cuisine, especially the seafood and dairy products. Make sure you get to sample a few of the restaurants while you’re there.
