SanDisk Extreme Pro - The Fastest microSD

There was a time my wife and I used to pack even the cat when going on a trip. Well, we never actually had a cat, so no fur babies were harmed, but if we had, she would have taken Fluffy with us too. But these days we try to pack as light as possible. So among other things, as I'm always the one responsible for the technology we take with us on the road, I have given up on packing the point-and-shoot Canon camera we have, because I can use my mobile as a second camera.

But during a normal trip, we tend to take lots of pictures. Last year along we took almost 50,000 pictures, a few good thousands of which were taken with my second camera. So if I am to use my mobile for that, I need more memory. Luckily I can upgrade the memory of my mobile with microSD cards. But a good processor in the mobile is not all it's needed for taking fast shots. One needs a fast microSD. So I thought I should opt for the fastest on the market - the SanDisk Extreme Pro microSDHC UHS-I.

This card is class 10 and UHS Speed Class 1 rated (UHS-104). I have chosen the 16GB model, for more memory for my mobile. The card has read speed of 95 MB/sec, meaning that this card is speed rated at 633x for those looking for CompactFlash IDE emulation speed numbers. The write speed isn't much slower at 90 MB/sec or 600x. I find that these are impressive ratings and this card is able to easily handle full HD video and blazing data transfer speeds. This means that it will be great also for the new full HD mobiles, or the new tablets.

I feel that the card improves on my mobile's performance, especially when it comes to running apps from the card and taking photos that save directly on the microSD card. It also doesn't hurt that the card is water-proof, temperature proof, X-ray proof and shock proof. As a traveler, I have to think about this kind of details, as the last thing I want is at the end of my trip to loose all my pictures. Cloud backup is fine, but not every hotel has good enough speeds to back my photos up. So often I end up replaying on a good SDcard, and this card is for sure to do the job perfectly.
