Some Aruba Questions

Q. Is snorkelling gear included at the Tamarijn Aruba?
A. Snorkel gear IS included in the all inclusive package at the Tamarijn.

Q. Where do we go to snorkel?
A. For snorkeling in Aruba, use this as your guide. I also wrote about recent snorkeling experiences in Aruba here. Another great way to snorkel in Aruba is an excursion aboard Tranquilo. Their southside lunch cruise goes to a reef which is on the outside of the barrier islands and there are no other excursions which go there. You can read about our experience on my Aruba blog here.

Q. What times of the year have you been to Aruba.
A. We've been to Aruba: January, March, June (early and late), July, August, September and December.

Q. How calm or rough are the seas at the end of May or beginning of June?
A. June is the windiest month. It is hot though and the wind will keep you cooler. September is quiet as is the early part of June before the kids get out of school in the northeast US, but there is a lot less wind in September so it is MUCH hotter. When we stayed at the Tamarijn in December, there were days where the ocean was pretty flat, and other where there were waves. I honestly do not know what to expect in June, but imagine it will be similar. It will all depend upon the weather. For guaranteed flat ocean waters (except in the case of a RARE real bad storm), Palm Beach would be the place to stay. My husband and I have had many many discussions about this due to the fact that he prefers the flat, calm ocean. Our pocketbook ultimately makes the decision though and the Tamarijn wins out. We are returning in June. It is just a tradeoff we are forced to make.

Q. How did tipping work at the Tamarijn Aruba?
A. In my trip report I discuss the tipping that we did at the Tamarijn. We basically tipped those who we felt went above and beyond. Not a lot of money, just a few dollars, but imho, for the most part, it made a difference.

Q. Do you have photos of the Tamarijn Aruba?
A. I have a ton of photos of the Tamarijn. Remember also, should you choose to stay at the Tamarijn, you will also have use of all of the amenities and facilities at the Divi Resort. I some photos of that resort as well, here.

Q. Does the Tamarijn have a Kid's Club?
A. Yes, our dd enjoyed the Kid's Club at the Tamarijn very much. I have a list of activities for the Kid's Club, as well as links to the activities at the Tamarijn and Divi. More or less the same stuff, but on different nights, so that if you wanted to say see the Carnival show and missed it, you could always catch it at the other resort.

Q. You are able to go to the resort via bus or taxi. How long is the ride by bus from the airport to the Tamarijn?
A. You cannot reach the Tamarijn from the airport via public bus, it would be a charter type bus. The Tamarijn would be the first stop upon arriving on the island and most likely the last departing. Taxis in Aruba are much more affordable than some realize. You can see a list of fares here. From the airport to the Tamarijn is $17 each way per fare, NOT per person. Taxis hold up to 5 people as governed by law and there are additional charges for Sunday and extra luggage and other such things.

We use the same taxi driver all of the time while we are on the island. He is trustworthy, a native Aruban and dependable. For airport pickups you simply need to email him and he would wait for you at the exit to Aruba Customs with a sign with your name on it. I have written about him extensively here and here. He drives a nice big passenger van.

Q. Is there somewhere to get a list of excursions and prices before traveling to Aruba?
A. Check my website which has links for all those types of things: this page breaks it down by activity and then it will take you to a list of companys and links to their individual websites where you can find pricing.

Q. Is the US Dollar accepted in Aruba?
A. The US Dollar, is absolutely postively accepted EVERYWHERE. Some of the smaller "mom and pop" type places you may receive your coin change in Florins, the local currency. Always makes a nice souvenir. What times of the year have you been to Aruba?
