5 Abu Dhabi Wonder Projects

Abu Dhabi is one of the most prosperous and rapidly developing cities in the world. In just over half a century it transformed itself from a small Bedouin village into a thriving investment enterprise. Today's Abu Dhabi has futuristic skyscrapers rising from the desert, luxurious hotels and never-ending shopping malls but its past as a major hub for the pearl industry, before it had discovered its rich reserves of oil can still be tracked. However, the city seems to be looking more towards a glorious future than an obscure past. When we finally got used with Dubai's effervescent development, it might be the case that we will have to move our attention to Abu Dhabi's extravagant architectural wonderland.

Masdar City, Abu Dhabi Wonder Projects
Masdar City, Abu Dhabi

Masdar City
Masdar City is the project to be the world's first carbon-free city, designed to be not only free of cars and skyscrapers but also powered by the sun. Masdar will be home to about 50,000 people, at least 1,000 businesses and a university. You will have to check in your car and literally walk into the city. Underground podcars will also be available. The podcars are driverless vehicles guided by magnetic sensors, powered by solar electricity, that stop automatically if an obstacle appears. The streets will be narrow so buildings shade each other and wind towers will be built to keep temperature at a cool level.
