Completely New Things to Do in London

Looking for something to do on the weekend that’s not a museum, a shopping centre or a cheesy tourist trap? London is a city of diversity – so it’s not hard to find something new to try!

Whether you fancy a night on the town or a family day out, it’s time to freshen things up. Below are a few suggestions which sit on the zanier side of London’s spectrum.

Let’s go LEGO

At the moment, you can get a special deal on LEGOLAND Windsor with Grange’s London hotel at Bracknell; book now in time for the Monster Truck event in September, or to see Mr. Tumble in concert! There are also new rides for 3-12 year olds, and of course the range of amazing LEGO figures for the whole family to enjoy.

The Sport of Kings

Described as a ‘celebration of athletic ineptitude and immaculate trouser creases’, the Chap Olympiad takes places on July the 13th, and is sure to be a festival of fun, tweed and English eccentricity. You’ll see live music, snack on tasty barbecue food, drink a lot of Pimms and take part in what are loosely described as ‘sporting events’: participants are encouraged to don their finest 1920s-50s tweed, before proving your chap-liness in the Pipeathalon and Umbrella Jousting.

It ends at 11pm, so make sure you book into the Grange’s nearby Bloomsbury Hotel for a relaxing, and appropriately classy, place to ‘warm down’ with some champagne and a bubble bath.

Murder most Entertaining

Fancy a night out that’ll really test your wits? A murder mystery evening with A Door in a Wall is much more than your usual pub quiz. You’ll meet in a named location, where actors set the scene: there’s been a gruesome murder, and no-one knows ‘whodunit’. You and your team must travel around London picking up clues, solving riddles and making deductions, before meeting with other teams to see if anyone’s cracked the case.

Futuristic Fine Dining

‘Inamo’ is Pan Asian cuisine with a difference – instead of a paper menu, you choose your dishes from an interactive touch-controlled menu that’s beamed from above onto your plate. Then while you wait for your food to arrive, you can play battleships or change the tablecloth’s pattern by playing with the projections!
