Luxury London - How to Have High Times in the Big Smoke

London is brimming with great restaurants and bars, with countless options to soak up in culture, indulge in a little shopping and to get thoroughly pampered. The question is though with so much choice how can you be sure to get the best out of your time there? Well, to help you out we’ve done a roundup of our favourite bits of luxurious London, so drum roll please… here they are!

Check in to London’s finest Luxury Hotel

For utter convenience we love the Great Northern Hotel at London’s Kings Cross St Pancras Station. Having just undergone an enormous £40m restoration project, this perfectly located boutique hotel is looking nothing short of fabulous right now. It has 90 individual rooms all decorated to 5* standard and a restaurant, which is being reviewed as one of the best new restaurants in London. Mark Sergeant (Gordon Ramsay’s protégé) is head chef and he and his team serve up some rather special Modern British cuisine. The hotel has many quirky reminders of its Victorian heritage, plus everything you would hope for from a place of modern day luxury. We love the pantries on each floor, where guests can help themselves to home-baked cakes, retro treats and the daily newspapers, and the GNH bar, where you’ll be able to enjoy a tasty cocktail or two and then slip off to your comfy bed...

Treat Yourself to a Spot of Shopping

Bond Street in Mayfair offers a choice range of London’s most luxury stores, from Chanel to Burberry, Hermes and Louis Vuitton. Also worth exploring is the Village at the enormous Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherds Bush - all the key designers are there and if there is any hint of rain you can enjoy a shopping trip without having to pull out your umbrella! We also love St Christopher’s Place, tucked away from the hustle and bustle just off Oxford Street (behind Bond Street Station). It has a gorgeous range of boutiques and restaurants and is a great spot for people watching. Oh, and then there’s Covent Garden… After all, London has been declared European capital of shopping!

Indulge in Some Fine-Dining

When it comes to luxury dining Gordons Ramsay’s restaurant in Chelsea is the spot where everyone wants a table right now. Boasting a very impressive 3 Michelin stars, expect nothing short of a show-stopping culinary experience. Look out for the English asparagus ‘Polonaise’, Suckling Pig and Eton Mess with Gariguette strawberries and lemon balm – this is probably the tastiest, most luxurious slice of English summer you can get.

Sip Cocktails Overlooking the City

For high times cocktails are very important. Put simply, nothing lifts the spirits like having a glass of something delicious, surprising and glamorous in hand. We recommend the OXO Tower Bar for this where not only can you get some of the capitals finest cocktails but some of the very best views. You’ll see St Pauls Cathedral and the Thames from way up-high – this is best at sunset, as the city gets ready for night time.

Unwind and Recharge

The Sanctuary Spa in Covent Garden is the ideal place to unwind after a big night out, or a busy day about town. Sip champagne by the Koi Carp ponds, indulge in one of their many deeply relaxing treatments or simply have a dip in their famous indoor pool. The spa use their own award winning products and as the staff say their satisfaction comes from seeing guests leave with ‘glowing skin and happy smiles’ – we love the sound of that!

So, why not treat yourself to a short break in London? There is simply so much on offer and if you follow these tips, good times are guaranteed! Enjoy.
