How to Leave Everything Until the Last Minute
If you are leaving everything until the last minute with your summer holiday this year ‘staycationing’ may well be the perfect solution for you. For a start there will be no problems if any of the family’s passports need renewing, secondly you won't have to rush to change money and of course there will be no need to pick up a phrase book in the local language!
The summer for the UK is set to be a big one, with the Olympics and the Queens Diamond Jubilee and as part of the 2012 celebrations you can get 20.12% off many activities from theatre visits, to spa weekends and gokarting. We think that holidays are all about variety and trying something different, so how about trying something really exciting, such as Zorbing on Bodmin moor and then give yourself a moment of pure indulgence, with a massage at one of the many top class spas to be found around the country. Look up the 20.12% discounts online for more information, but this a really smart way to save on holiday activities.
Last minute holiday cottages and hotels are a great option for places to stay. You may even get a better deal, as agents are keen to fill the space and sometimes rent them for less, as the dates get closer. Self-catering accommodation can save you heaps on the cost of food and cooking with friends and family can be a great way to bond and make happy holiday memories. Check out local farmers markets for fresh local produce and a way to get a flavour of your chosen staycation destination.
Of course it’s a holiday, so you’re going to want to eat out at least once: some restaurants offer last minute bookings and if you are wanting to experience some top quality dining on your holiday it is worth remembering that many great places to eat, like Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen in Cornwall and Moro in London, also offer walk-in options, for those who don’t like to plan everything month in advance. Fifteen does a walk-in breakfast service everyday and Moro offer tapas at the bar and now have a bar next door called Morito, where there is no need to book and you can get great tasty bites to eat.
The wonderful thing about the ‘great outdoors’ on your staycation is that it’s all free to explore and doesn’t matter if you don’t decide where you are going until the very last minute! There are over 16,000 square km of National Parks in the UK and all of them are there for you to enjoy, from the Brecon Beacons, to the Norfolk Broads to the beautiful Dartmoor. Or why not explore the Forest of Dean or walk in the Peak District? These are truly world-class experiences that are all at home here in the UK and available to you at the last moment!
The most important thing to remember when you are leaving it all until the last minute is to be open-minded! Have a look online and see what you can find and you may find yourself somewhere that you would never have expected and have a truly marvellous time! Enjoy!
