It’s not too late to book a last minute summer holiday, and if you do some research beforehand you could find a real bargain as the season winds down. So if you’ve been mulling over whether to get on a plane and get away from it all, we’ve found some excellent destinations that could be worth looking into.
It depends what kind of holiday you’re after, of course, so we’ve chosen five destinations that include everything from easy beach access to fabulous city breaks. It’s best to take the time to compare holiday prices that are available from various holiday providers through Deal Checker, before you decide where to book as you can save yourself a fair amount of money.
A sunshine break in Spain
Spain is the UK’s number one destination for holidays - in particular the well known party islands Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca, as well as the Canary Islands. We suggest you give Northern Spain a try as it’s far less likely to be full of tourists and manages to combine some truly spectacular countryside with fabulous beaches, great food and interesting cities.
The Magical Kingdom in France
Although France has plenty to offer in both the North and South of the country, and has the added advantage of being easy to get to from the UK, we’ve chosen Disneyland Paris as our favourite destination. Perfect for a family holiday, the theme park is a fab destination for a whole lot of fun, and it is of course found very near the French capital. It’s worth taking a day or so to explore the city before enjoying all that Disney has to offer. Don’t forget to check out the lovely food and special ambiance in the French capital, it’s a city that deserves to be fully explored.
A week in Greece
Greece, although in an economic crisis, is still a beautifully relaxed holiday destination. With beautiful weather, fabulous seaside villas and healthy and tasty food, it’s the perfect place to kick back and relax. Crete is one of the most interesting of the Greek islands to explore as long as you stay away from the tackier of the resorts - there are lots of family villas available to rent.
City living in NYC
America has an almost endless choice of holiday destinations but we’ve chosen the Big Apple itself - New York. For first time visitors it’s an amazing experience, particularly as you’ll find yourself familiar with many of the tourist attractions from TV and film. It’s a cultural hotspot as well as a city that never sleeps so you are bound to find something to stimulate your mind, your body, your palate and your soul.
A fortnight in Tuscany
Italy is consistently rated as one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe , with a huge selection of art, culture, history, architecture, hugely beautiful coastlines and countryside. It’s a pretty easy trip to go from Rome to Florence, Pisa and Lucca from where you can travel to Venice. We recommend a tour around these fabulous cities - we can guarantee you won’t be disappointed and you’re more than likely to come back a huge fan of one of the most glorious countries in Europe.
