Stuttgart might be first and foremost famous for its automotive industry, with both Porsche and Mercedes-Benz having their headquarters and museums here, but on our recent visit we discovered a more informal city, filled with glee and a Christmas spirit hard to match.
Even our hotel, Park in by Radisson, was all festively decorated creating a welcoming atmosphere. The girls at the reception wore Santa hats, poinsettias were placed on every table and the beautiful Christmas tree inevitably grabbed our attention.
Park Inn is overlooking the bustling Marienplatz and is very well connected with the train station and the center via the subway. Nevertheless, the Christmas Market and the Schlossplatz, the main city square, are within walking distance. Granted, you won't stumble upon any remarkable attractions on your way to the center, but we actually enjoyed the invigorating walk in the crisp air.
Our room was beautifully decorated, with dashes of color, plenty of natural light and a very modern and sleek decor.
Awaiting in our room were a complimentary fruit platter, a selection of Ritter chocolates and a small bottle of wine, undeniable proof that we were in good hands.
Park Inn has a very friendly atmosphere throughout. There were people playing cards in the lobby, friends chatting on the comfy sofas and informal business meetings going on all day long. It was a welcoming and light climate that permitted anyone to feel right at home.
Just before we checked out, the clouds dissipated and we were granted a panoramic view of the city. The Park Inn building spreads over seven floors, towering over the red roofs of Stuttgart. There's little that can obstruct the views all the way to the surrounding mountains. Quite atmospheric, if you ask me! Being in the 6th largest city in Germany yet so close to nature is definitely a bonus.
Breakfast is served in the RGB Restaurant downstairs, which brings quite a bit of a classy feel to your start of the day. Comfortable chairs, a nice decor and a bustling atmosphere are quite the norm. The buffet was being constantly supplied with all kinds of delicacies - cold cuts, fresh pretzels, croissants, yummy cakes, all sorts of warm dishes and champagne.
The tea blends were quite special too, but the stuffed vine leaf rolls were our favourite, especially because this was the first time we found them among the breakfast options.
Park Inn by Radisson is great for both business and leisure. Their breakfast is really fancy and the rooms are comfortable and of a decent size. All in all, a good option to spend the night while in Stuttgart.
