Love and Fruit Shaped Marzipan in Valencia
On October 9th, Valencia celebrates the San Dionisio Day, traditionally considered the patron saint of lovers. It's the local version of St. Valentine's Day and traditionally, men give their sweethearts a scarf (mocadora) and fruit shaped colorful marzipan sweets like the ones in the photos below. October the 9th, is also the Day of the Valencian Community, and parades are being held throughout the city, but that's another story.
