Photo Of The Week: Neuschwanstein Castle
|
Neuschwanstein Castle |
Neuschwanstein Castle, the castle that inspired Walt Disney when he designed Cinderella’s Castle, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany. Situated on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Neuschwanstein Castle was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria, also referred to as the "Mad King", as a retreat and as homage to Richard Wagner, the King's inspiring muse.
I took this photo from the all squeaky two person wide old wooden bridge called Marienbruecke that lays across the way deep rocky gorge behind Neuschwanstein Castle. I have to admit I was quite afraid as the bridge was moving every time the other visitors were walking on it. But the amazing views of the castle and its surroundings were worth it.
If you like taking pictures in your travels, don't forget to add them to the Travelocafe group on Flickr (with Creative Commons licensing). Your shot might be the next Photo Of The Week.
