Space Tourism Is Getting Cheaper By The Day

Space tourism and vacations on Moon are more science than fiction by the day. A few days ago, Virgin Galactic's spaceship VSS Enterprise, the world's first manned commercial spaceship, has taken its first crewed flight. The two men on board conducted system tests for little more than 6 hours while the spaceship remained attached to the mothership. The operation was a success and space tourism is now a step closer for the masses. The project is developing rapidly and suborbital commercial flights are due to start as early as 2011. But competition is fierce and space tourism is already getting cheaper. Initially Virgin Galactic intends to sell the tickets for $200,000, though another space tourism company, Space Adventures, promises to offer flights for almost half the price, although this won't happen until 2012 at the earliest. Anyways that is a big drop down from $20-35 millions, the price for a suborbital flight in the present.

On July 20, 41 years ago, Neil Armstrong made his historic moon walk and said the famous "One small step for (a) man; one giant leap for mankind". The teams journey from Earth to Moon took four days and the first human footprint is believed to be still there, since the Moon doesn't have any weather that could have washed it away. Who knows, Armstrong's footprint might just become one of the next fashionable tourist attractions!

I am sure we all have one or two crazy dreams that chances are we will never live to see them come reality. In my case, I wish to see Earth from space. Well, good luck with that you might say and I couldn't agree more, knowing for a fact that every time I fly my ears hurt like Hell and I get all dizzy. But then again, as Jeri Ryan said in one Star Trek episode, may all your dreams come true but one for you to always have something to strive to.

After I missed at least 5 National Parks because of govt. shutdown, I just read that the U.S. may let some of the states reopen them because it is causing hardship on the surrounding communities who rely on tourism.  Well, what the hell, isn't...
