Top Holidays This Summer for Singletons
Going on holiday when you’re single needs to be carefully thought out. The last thing you want is to wind up at a resort that’s been geared towards couples, or worse, families. Trying to relax in a place where you’re attempting to find other single and like-minded individuals can be extremely awkward, particularly with loads of loud kids running around.
Ideally, you want to go somewhere that’s quiet and unobtrusive, where you can relax without the hordes of children and annoying couples. This guide has been written to advise you on how to prepare, and where to go.
Packing for your singleton holiday
Apart from the essentials, you need to think carefully about what you’re going to take on your singleton holiday. Plenty of underwear is recommended, as buying cheap local underwear can result in mood-killing rashes.
Above all, you want to be able to maintain your health while on holiday. Nothing will ruin your holiday more than the onset of cystitis symptoms.
Tarifa, Spain
Tarifa is famed for its party scene, as well as all the kitesurfing that is enjoyed by the tourists who flock there. It’s an ideal place for singles to visit. All you have to do is book yourself onto a kitesurfing course and you’ll be thrust into a group of enthusiastic friends.
Even if kitesurfing isn’t really your thing, there’s plenty more in Tarifa to enjoy, like the delicious local cuisine. You’ll be overwhelmed by the choice of seafood and the range of cocktails.
Music festivals in Montreal
Montreal is a fantastic place for single people to travel to over the summer. If you forego the expensive hotels and choose to couch-surf, you’ll meet all kinds of friendly, interesting folk, who will be more than happy to get you involved in the local summer music scene.
A lot of students also rent their rooms out over the summer. If you’re in for the long haul, it’s worth getting budget accommodation so you can make the most of the music.
Down south in Sri Lanka
The beach season never really seems to end in Sri Lanka – when the weather turns sour, all you have to do is hop over to the other coast. The beach lifestyle leaves little to be desired; you’ll have plenty of friendly locals to surf and snorkel with, as well as plenty of like-minded individuals who’ve driven down from the city to avoid the hustle and bustle.
There is a growing abundance of beach parties these days, with more parties being set up to rival others. The electronic music scene has really exploded, with international DJs being flown in to entertain the crowds. If sun, surf and dance is your thing, Sri Lanka is your best bet for a singles holiday.
