Biggest Star Trek Exhibition In Europe

Star Trek Exhibition In Europe
Star Trek Exhibition at the City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia
Have you ever wanted to visit a starship? For the next few months Star Trek is moving to one of the most futuristic buildings in the world. I couldn't resist temptation and today I have visited again the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia to check out its current main attraction - the new massive Star Trek Exhibition, hosted by the 'Principe Felipe' Science Museum, one of the now six astonishing buildings. This exhibition gave me the chance to see real props and costumes from this legendary series for the first time ever in Europe, in a meticulously assembled set that beamed me up to the starship ‘Enterprise’.

The replica of the bridge, a flight simulator, models and real objects can all be seen in the exhibition on this series that actually did see into the future as it portrayed inventions such as laser rays, CAT scans, the mobile phone and automatic sliding doors. I was mesmerized by the collection of costumes that spanned from the original series to the latest movie. But what thrilled me even more was that I GOT TO SIT IN THE CAPTAIN'S CHAIR!!! And it felt so comfortable... It's good to be the captain!

The Star Trek Exhibition can be visited until February 2011. A day ticket costs 7.5euro. There is a 15% discount for students if you have the student card with you to show the lady at the ticket office. The ticket also includes access to the Marvel Superheroes Exhibition and all the other exhibitions going on at the 'Principe Felipe' Science Museum, most of which are educational exhibitions for kids. Inside the museum there are also a few gift shops and restaurants, though I recommend you check the offer of restaurants in El Saler Commercial Center just cross the road.

These days, the City of Arts and Sciences also hosts the computer Campus Party, an event for all European geeks to keep up to date with new information about technology and to learn as much as possible. Campus Party is the trendsetter for many disciplines such as robotics, software creation, digital culture, modding, security and networks or digital creativity among others.

I can hardly wait till autumn when a Star Trek fan convention will also be held in Valencia. But about that, I'll tell you some other time... in autumn.
