Falling in Love With the Alps at Alphotel, Innsbruck

There is no secret that we love Innsbruck. And it was love at first sight, nevertheless. The beautiful streets that tell a story eight centuries old, and the majestic mountains that surround the city, compose an idyllic image hard to leave behind.

We explored the snow covered mountains by day and the charm infused Christmas Markets in the evenings, but when the cold outside and the tiredness got the best of us, we would return to the warmth and comfort of our room at Alphotel.

Alphotel is situated a bit outside the city centre, but no worries, the bus stop is just in front of the hotel and it only takes 15 minutes or so to reach the city centre. There are lots of commercial centres all around the hotel (including Ikea!), just in case you feel like going shopping, however, the most impressive feature of Alphotel are the unobstructed views of the mountains.

We stayed in one of the corner rooms and we could feel the presence of the spirit of the Alps all around us. The amazing panoramic photo above the bed was lucid dreaming inducing. The Tyrol region is beautiful in every season! But then we also enjoyed the soft wood hues of the furniture and the occasional splashes of colour in the decor, not in competition with the world outside, but rather complementing it.

Alphotel is a rather modern hotel, with big open spaces and straight lines. Yet, small details, like the wooden balconies, or the beautiful Christmas tree added a dash of seasonal cheer and a touch of local influence.

The blue exterior of the hotel easily blends with the colour of the sky. And though while we were in Innsbruck it was foggy most of the time and we couldn't see the the peak of the mountains from he foothill, the fresh and crisp air that would enter once we opened the windows of our room was invigorating, refreshing and utterly inviting.

Breakfast at Alphotel is a big deal, and it is carefully served. We loved the great variety and freshness of the products, as well as the beautiful setting in which it was served. It was a tasty start of the day and it provided us with the energy necessary to enjoy the gorgeous city and the mountains.

Given the low temperatures outside, the heating was excellent and kept us warm while inside. The staff was friendly and efficient as well, which was definitely a plus and made our stay even more pleasant. Our safe didn't work properly and to our surprise, they changed it on the spot!

Additionally, though we didn't come by car, there seemed to be plenty of parking space around the hotel. However, as we said before, the best feature of this hotel remain the grand views of the Alps that filled our hearts with joy every time we looked outside the window.
