I was sold the moment I entered Hotel Axel Guldsmeden. By the entrance there was this incredibly beautiful sculpted, wooden tray with delicious organic apples. They looked so inviting that I couldn't resist the temptation and picked one. From this moment on, all that followed was a series of beautiful surprises.
Location
Hotel Axel Guldsmeden is situated among trendy cafés and luxury shops, right in the center of Copenhagen, which makes it the perfect starting point for exploring this vibrant city. It took us just two minutes to get here from the railway station and a five minutes walk from the hotel to the world famous Tivoli Gardens.
Our Room
The moment we entered our room, we were smitten. It was like stepping in a realm of calmness and perfection. From the extremely comfortable four-poster bed to the wealth of beautiful details, it was all meant for the guests to have a unique and unforgettable experience.
This was one of the most charming hotel rooms we've ever stayed in. The organic furniture in Balinese inspired style and the choice of natural colors were sending overwhelming zen vibes. In a city that kind of never sleeps, where people of all ways of life mingle in a rushed circus, Hotel Axel Guldsmeden was our perfect oasis of peace.
Each room of the hotel is different, but what they all have in common is the quality of the decor and the commitment to keeping the surroundings organic. As big fans of all things natural, eco-friendly and hand-made, we found this to be an amazing and praiseworthy idea. Just knowing that we were sleeping in a room inspired from nature itself made our dreams even sweeter.
The Bathroom
Following the same lines, all bathroom products, from towels and bath robes to shampoo and toilet paper, were organic. The design was unique and I particularly liked the stone sink. The sea shells decorating every corner of the hotel were simply inspiring.
The lobby
The decor in the lobby was delightful. So comfortable, so beautiful, so relaxing. This space must have been designed for lazy moments. The bar served delicious cocktail (organic, of course!) the whole afternoon and the soft music was the perfect companion as we chilled out here for a couple of hours in the evening.
For the guests who feel like never leaving, souvenirs consisting of the hotel's own brand of cosmetic products are available at the front desk.
The Spa
Hotel Axel Guldsmeden offers an impressive array of spa treatments for all skin types. All products used are, as you might have got used by not, organic, and the ambience is luxurious and zen.
When we checked in, two spa robes and slippers were waiting for us in a beautiful basket by our bed. We couldn't resist the temptation and went for what became the most relaxing hour of our trip.
Breakfast
I like the slogan of Hotel Axel Guldsmeden - 'Love food - Hate waste'. I am all for it. I hate trowing away food and I enjoy a delicious meal. I grew up with organic food from my grandparent's garden. Therefore, for me, the breakfast at Axel Guldsmeden was more than a matter of principle. It reminded me of childhood. It brought back the best memories. And it made even my stomach fall in love with this place.
There was a great variety of yummy, healthy foods there for the guests to try out. And I've never seen people happier to have breakfast in a hotel.
Then there were the cheerful plates and cups set on each table that gave us just the impulse we needed to start the day on a positive note...
Though there were people having breakfast on the terrace, we found the Danish morning air too chilly. We admired the potted strawberries, headed back in and had a fabulous start of the day.
We loved this hotel with all our heart.
