Aminta was a 16th century play about shepherds and nymphs living idyllic lives. And life at Villa & Palazzo Aminta Hotel can be just as fabulous and incredible. Not to mention romantic.
Location
Situated on the shores of Lake Maggiore, on one end of Stresa, it really is recommendable to arrive and leave by car. The hotel offers a shuttle service to downtown Stresa a few times a day, and though it is reachable by foot, the lack of sidewalks makes walking along the busy road a dangerous and stupid endeavor.
Our Room
We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms facing the lake. And I must say this was the most beautifully decorated room in its category we've ever stayed in! Spacious, with handmade frescoes decorating the walls, an incredibly beautiful chandelier hanging from the ceiling, Egyptian cotton linen, decorative objects... It was luxurious, comfortable and relaxing and we found it hard to leave.
The bathroom was covered in marble, with
Aqua di Parma toiletries, double sink, and every other amenity in between.
The fantastic views from the generous balcony, offering a unique perspective over Isola Bella were priceless in themselves.
The Common Areas
The grandiose hall and lobby of Villa & Palazzo Aminta Hotel rather reminded us of a museum, a very functional one that is! Elegant sofas and armchairs, marble columns, stained glass ceilings, hips of decorative objects the owners brought from all corners of the world, gorgeous paintings, Venetian style floors, and colorful glass chandeliers made this a sensual space. We loved spending time here, though to be honest, we were all the time thorn between the different ambiances and it was difficult for us to make up our mind which area we liked best. The hall and lobby occupy big part of the hotel's ground level and we felt spoiled rotten, I tell you! Definitely a place we'll not easily forget! After all, Villa & Palazzo Aminta is a 5-star deluxe hotel and part of the Leading Hotels of the World.
The veranda, with its huge windows overlooking the Borromean Islands and the lake was however our favorite place due to all the natural light that was coming in, which made it the ideal place for reading a book or enjoying a romantic cup of Italian coffee. From the veranda, guests could access either the fancy I Mori Restaurant, or the elegant breakfast room.
Breakfast
Breakfast at Villa & Palazzo Aminta Hotel is like having a bite of la dolce vita. We started the day with champagne, cappuccino and other local and international delicacies, lazily admiring Lake Maggiore from the terrace. Really, these views have a hypnotic effect that make you want to extend your breakfast till lunchtime.
Villa & Palazzo Aminta Hotel is the ultimate luxury hotel. It is astonishingly decorated, in a harmonious and comfortable way and guests can easily like feel they stepped our of reality, into a beautiful dream. At least I know I did!
