The 7th arrondissement on the left banks of the Seine is full of wonders and one of my favorites. Apart from boasting world-famous attractions like the Eiffel Tower, Hôtel des Invalides (Napoléon's resting place), Musée d'Orsay and Musee Rodin, the neighborhood is a tranquil and residential one.
It is in this setting, on the rue with the same name, that Hotel Bourgogne & Montana is situated. Just opposite the Assamblée National and a couple of minutes walk from the Seine and the metro station, the hotel offers serene moments away from the hustle and bustle of Paris.
Hotel Bourgogne & Montana is the image of chic from top to bottom. It has a very French atmosphere, reminding a bygone Paris. The hotel occupies an old building, with a small elevator dating back to the 1920's. And if you, like me, love this creative period of Paris’ history, you will truly appreciate they kept this detail intact.
The lobby is the only place decorated in a sleek, modern style, with large colorful sofas, gorgeous classical paintings and wood masks, a reminiscence of the historical ties between France and the African continent. All in all, this is a very tranquil space and a great meeting place.
Our room was spacious, nicely decorated, with thick, classy fabrics covering the walls, and very quiet, since it was facing the inner courtyard. We simply loved the decor, and the attention accorded to details, including the big flat TV screen, the iPad/iPod docking in the room and the generous safety deposit box.
The room had huge windows that let plenty of natural light in, even though they were facing the relatively narrow space of the inner courtyard. I guess being at one of the top floors also helped.
Comfortable and homey and two words that would perfectly describe our room.
The bathroom was spacious as well and decorated in dark blue and white tiles. The toiletries were good quality and the towels were all branded Maurice Hurand, the small collection of 5 stylish boutique hotels Bourgogne & Montana is part of.
Breakfast at Hotel Bourgogne & Montana was a pleasure every morning and a nice excuse to wake up every day. Served in a room bathed in natural light next to the reception, it featured some great healthy options and a nice presentation. Not to mention the staff was extremely friendly and polite and they paid great attention to details.
Hotel Bourgogne & Montana can be perfect for both families and couples. Its romantic atmosphere and secluded location makes it a hidden gem worth discovering, while the friendly disposition of the staff is a guarantee guests will feel welcomed any time.
